Our annual Electronics Recycling Event was a big success again with a steady stream of residents dropping off old computers, laptops, phones, TVs, printers, and appliances for responsible recycling by our friends at Keeper of the Grumper. Given the continued interest in this service, the SBR Technology Club plans to host the event every fall.
2025 was a busy year for the Tech Club. A few of our class offerings included:
* The “Digitize Your Life” series included classes on converting old VHS and 8mm tapes to digital format to ensure you retain your important videos in a long-lasting digital format
* The “Organizing and Scanning Your Photos” series showed members how to use the club’s photo scanner to organize and convert old photos, slides, film, and documents to digital format
* Building Your Own Plex Media Server
* iPhone Tips and Tricks
* Mastering Light for Stunning Photography
* Home Automation for Control of Your Residential Systems
* Exploring Cutting-Edge AI for Your Personal Use
* Transitioning from Windows to Mac
As you can see, these classes, almost all of which are for Tech Club Members only, provide a wide range of information and help in many areas. The Tech Club’s scanners, printers (including 3D) and related software are available to members to assist them without having to purchase a home device. Additionally, our Monitor Program provides one-on-one assistance to solve your various tech issues. Check out our website at sbrtechnologyclub.org to see what we have planned in the coming year. You can also sign up to join the club on the website. We look forward to seeing you in 2026!
