The Golden Goose Thrift Shop has been selected as the 2014 Rural Small Business of the Year by the Pima County Small Business Commission. The award will be presented on September 9 at the Board of Supervisors meeting at the Pima County Administration Building on Congress St.
Just a few of the factors influencing the selection were the fact that:
The Goose is an excellent example of the business spirit of Pima County and proof that a small, local business with humble beginnings can grow exponentially and attain great success.
Through effective planning, marketing, customer service and community support, the Goose has generated over six million dollars for local charities and increased revenues in each of its eleven years in business.
The Goose has served as a role model and mentor to other Pima County non-profits.
The Goose is an outstanding example of a successful “green” business, encouraging and helping residents to recycle unwanted items that might otherwise end up in a landfill.
The Goose is active in the local business community as a member of the Oro Valley Chamber of Commerce and the Oro Valley Business Club.
The Goose has become a point of destination that brings shoppers to Pima County from locations far and wide.
The Goose has been recognized by Arizona Illustrated as a “Tucson Treasure” and the Northwest Explorer recognized the Goose in its “Best of the Northwest” sections for 2013 and 2014. In 2013, the Goose won the award for “Best Shopping Center” and in 2014 won “Best Volunteers” and “Best Customer Service.”
This is a proud moment and another milestone for the Goose, its Board of Directors, five employees and over 400 volunteers. Please stop by and congratulate our staff and volunteers.
