Scott Lowry
In the words of that famous rock music philosopher, Bob Seger: “I still like that old time rock and roll, that kind of music just soothes the soul, I reminisce about the days of old, with that old time rock and roll.” Following Seger’s philosophy, on Jan. 12, the Sol Ballroom at the Ranch was rocked with the music of Seger, Bachman-Turner Overdrive, the Rolling Stones, the Beatles, and Elton John, along with other favorites from the ‘60s through the ‘90s.
Mark your calendar for Feb. 17, when the dance will have a Valentine’s feel, with a spotlight on the music of Linda Ronstadt. The Sol Ballroom doors will open at 5:30 p.m., with the dance running from 6 to 8:30 p.m. The dance is open to SBR Social Dance Club members and nonmembers and their guests. Food and drinks can be purchased from the Ranch House Grill.
The Jan. 12 dance was the first of a full year of monthly rock and roll dances to be held by the Saddlebrooke Ranch Social Dance Club.
Monthly dances will include a St. Patrick’s Day dance on March 17, a Summer Beach Party with a focus on the hits from the Beach Boys and Jan and Dean, a Sock Hop party in the summer, and more dances each month of the year. Holding monthly rock and roll dances allows all lovers of your favorite music to come together to listen and dance to the music we grew up with, from the ‘60’s to today.
Holding monthly rock and roll dances rounds out the monthly dances held by the SBR Social Dance Club. Currently, the club holds a ballroom dance and a country/western dance each month. In addition to the dances planned during 2022, there are dance lessons scheduled throughout the year to help you learn something new and to have fun.
All dance parties are open to all SBR residents and their guests whether they are members or nonmembers of the SBR Social Dance Club. However, SBR Social Dance Club members save on the price of dances and lessons. For a complete list of upcoming dances and dance lessons, and to register, go to the club website at www.sbrsbdc.club.
