Mention a fashion show, and thoughts immediately go to anorexic, Amazon-tall, solemn women wearing styles not commonly seen in Arizona. This was not the scene at the annual Fashion Show and Luncheon sponsored by the SaddleBrooke Ranch Birthday Club held on Monday, October 13, 2014 at the MountainView clubhouse Ballroom in SaddleBrooke. Laughter filled the ballroom for this gals’ day out to watch fashions provided by the Catalina Ranch House modeled by 10 of their smiling neighbors and friends.
The beautiful fashion models wore two outfits each, enjoying every minute showing that you can look beautiful and stylish yet comfortable without spending a fortune. Each outfit worn brought applause from the crowd. The lovely models were Helga Stone, Janice Neal, Suzie Land, Judy Smith, Linda Whittington, Cheri Utsler, June Nichols, Jeanne Bianchini, Linda Harvey and Marlene Diskin. The clothing was selected by the Catalina Ranch House with jewelry to complement each of these lovely outfits. The show was moderated by Mary Carolin, owner of The Catalina Ranch House.
Before the fashion show began, a very flavorful lunch of three different salads was served on a bed of greens complemented with mixed fruit to 133 women attending this year’s record-setting event.
During the models’ clothing change, the Birthday Lunch volunteers drew ticket stubs to award 15 raffle prizes provided by The Catalina Ranch House, Silk Expressions, Facials by Carin Nelson and Desert Dove Salon.
A special thanks goes out to the various committee members for all their efforts to make this a great success.
The Birthday Lunch Club meets the second Monday of every month at SaddleBrooke Ranch. All female residents in the community are invited to join. These luncheons are a great opportunity to get to know your neighbors. Guest speakers from our area are invited to share their knowledge and talents with us. Several times a year special luncheons (such as fashion shows) are planned. Watch the Weekly Reminders for details on how to sign up and attend.
