There’s a New Club in Town!

Trish Merrill

The Marana-Foothills Optimist Club, serving youth in our local community, has started holding our business meetings once a month at the Ranch House Grill in the Eldorado Room on the first Thursday of the month at 5:30 p.m. We invite you to drop in and see what we’re all about.

For those of you who are not familiar, Optimist International is a worldwide volunteer organization made up of more than 2,500 local clubs whose members work each day to make the future brighter by bringing out the best in children, in their communities, and in themselves.

In October of this year we will be holding a fundraiser to assist in our Christmas project, which involves working with Santa’s Helpers whose mission is to help Santa Claus deliver toys and clothes to underprivileged children in Tucson and Southern Arizona at Christmas.

We invite you to join us at Peter Piper Pizza, 3741 W. Ina #125 in Tucson, on Thursday, Oct. 27, from 5 to 8 p.m. to help us raise funds. We will be holding a raffle as well, which will include some pretty nice dinners out and some other fun items. Santa’s Helpers can also use your donations of gifts for children of all ages—new dolls, coloring books/crayons, sports balls, and board games are among the most popular items. Feel free to contact me, Trish Merrill, at 303-885-4288 and I’ll pick them up, or you can drop them off at our meeting on the first Thursday of every month at the Ranch Grill.

We look forward to seeing you around the Ranch!
