January’s Presentation Takes Us to the Galapagos

Join fellow SaddleBrooke Ranch (SBR) resident Harold Jackson as he takes us through an experience of a lifetime traveling through the Galapagos—a volcanic archipelago of volcanic islands in the Pacific Ocean, about 600 miles off the coast of Ecuador, and which form a province of the country. He and his wife came eye to eye with comical birds, iguanas, seals, giant tortoises, and other amazing beasts—and enjoyed viewing landscapes as fantastic as the animals—for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure. Extreme isolation and the convergence of three ocean currents developed the most unusual wildlife.

As we travel along with Harold, we’ll feel what it’s like living in a museum of evolution and trek along unearthly landscapes. It’s considered one of the world’s foremost destinations for wildlife viewing.

He also explored and will share with us highlights of Ecuador’s capital Quito. Perched in the Andes, Quito is breathtaking, featuring a well-preserved colonial core, hidden cobblestone streets, markets, monasteries, and stunning views. It’s a blend of indigenous and Spanish colonial influences.

He has lots to share, and we hope you’ll be able to attend. Mark your calendar and join Travel Talk Tuesday on Jan. 27 from 3:30 to 5 p.m. in the La Mesa Room.

We also look forward to you joining us for other future travel presentations. If you would like to be a presenter and/or help us coordinate “Travel Talk Tuesday” (TTT), please contact Wonona Davis at sbrtraveltalktuesday@gmail.com.
