Unique and Uncommon Cactus and Succulents for Cold Climates

Your Southeast Pinal County Master Gardeners are pleased to invite you to our Community Education Presentation on Wednesday, Dec. 11 at 1 p.m. at the SaddleBrooke Ranch Sol Ballroom. Join us as we welcome back Mark Sitter from B & B Cactus Farm for this free presentation: Unique and Uncommon Cactus and Succulents for Cold Climates.

Many of us are familiar with the more common cactus varieties such as the golden barrel, prickly pear, agaves, and saguaros we see sprinkled throughout our desert and found in many of our neighboring landscapes. Mark will introduce us to many of the more unusual varieties of cactus and succulents that thrive at our elevation and will make a great addition to our landscape. In addition, he will address how to care for cactus and succulents including how to choose the best location, proper seasonal watering practices, propagation, fertilization, and much more.

Mark Sitter is the owner of B & B Cactus Farm, which is located on East Speedway in Tucson. The Farm is an established cactus nursery, specializing in cacti and succulents of all types. They have been in business for more than 30 years and employ a knowledgeable and friendly staff who are always eager to answer your questions.

The nursery welcomes visitors to browse their beautifully landscaped gardens, with many greenhouses and outside areas populated with diverse and exotic specimens that are cold hardy. Homeowners will find everything from small seedlings to large, landscape specimens. They also have a great collection of pottery.
