Happy Holidays from 16B
Pete Watson
Trying to get a jump on the holiday home buying season, Unit 16B once again lowered the property value of two unlucky homeowners. Bill and Raydeen Gilles, having had way too much Jägermeister, sacrificed their home to host the third Annual Holiday Homewrecking Gala. Wow, neighbors we hadn’t seen in ages came pouring out of the woodwork to join in the fun. Who knew we had so many great cooks? Appetizers like Filipino Lumpia, BLT dip, and Liver & Onion Quesadillas lined the counters. Bob Lewis made his famous 12–hour smoked pork sliders and Pam Engelhardt helped wash them down with her potent Snoop Dog–inspired, Gin-n-Juice150 proof eggnog! Then the real fun began! Our regular guitarist failed to show, but he sent his good friends Gunna and Yung Thug over to get the party started! And who doesn’t love a little Gangsta Rap?! BOOM! … We all got Giggy wid it … and, after several rounds in the Jumpy Castle and a Christmas–themed Limbo Contest, the few remaining, uninjured guests rallied round the dessert bar! Oh, man, it was Heart Attack on a Plate! All of this right after Thanksgiving makes me thankful for those Sansabelt slacks I get every Christmas. Ahhhhhhh…
All seriousness aside, our Unit requested donations to help IMPACT of Southern Arizona continue their efforts to feed and clothe their clients. Together, we raised $3,700 that will go a long way towards making the holidays a little brighter for those who could use it most!
A BIG THANK YOU goes out to all who helped. Happy New Year!
Unit 21 Fall Block Party
Didi Yontef-Roberts
On Nov. 9, 2025, all of Unit 21 had their Bi-Annual Block Party. Almost 70 residents enjoyed food contributions, drinks, and driveway games. Again, it was wonderful to welcome back our winter friends and to greet new ones. It was a beautiful day to catch up on the news of the summer months from everyone. A big thank you to our driveway hosts, Walt and June Risse, and our planning committee: Donna Haydel, Kathy Oestreich, Didi Yontef-Roberts, Julie Dzekute, Mags Johnson, Evie Falk, Leanne Cooper, and Trish Wylie. I know everyone will be looking forward to the spring get–together. In the meantime, “cheers” to a wonderful winter.
