Terry Barringer
After eight months without a putting green, the SaddleBrooke Ranch Ranchette Putters were delighted to celebrate the opening of our beautiful new 10,000 square foot green.
During the hiatus the Putters invented a creative form of endeavor using a putter called “Wicket Putting.” On occasion our sister community to the south generously offered their greens so that we would not get too rusty. These mornings were a fun gathering of friends, and we all appreciated the opportunity to fellowship. But…as Dorothy said as she clicked her ruby red slippers, “There’s no place like home.”
As soon as the Ranchette Putters got the word, 43 players descended on the green for opening day eager to see what challenges the new green offered. There were positive comments all around. Many expressed appreciation for the fact that the topography did not include holes that, if missed, allowed the ball to roll down to the adjacent cart path!
On opening day there were 57 holes-in-one scored. Cathy Lair, Lori Round, Jean Sticha, Linda Nicholson, Diane Seyl and Terry Barringer all made three holes-in-one. Leading the pack with four holes-in-one and two money holes was Marion Ewing. Congratulations, Marion, you have given everyone a goal to shoot for.
The SaddleBrooke Ranch Ranchette Putters play every Wednesday morning. All the ladies at SaddleBrooke Ranch are invited to join the club. Talent is not a criterion. The only thing you need is a putter, a golf ball and a desire for some non-competitive fun with your neighbors.
