Jeff and Lynn Sproul rented a home on Canyon Vista for several months before closing in early May in their Villa on Flint Drive. They moved to the Ranch from Hebron, Ky. Jeff enjoys biking, and Lynn loves that she can easily get into the pool. They love the weather, the pool, and the people they have met at the Ranch.
Diane and Larry Post moved to the Ranch from Clarksville, Md. Their new home is located in Unit 18C on Cardinal Lane. They have also lived in Scottsdale, an area they had loved. Like most newcomers, the weather, our beautiful mountains, and all the friendly people as well as the amenities sold them on the Ranch. Some of Larry’s interests are hiking, pickleball, and golf, and he enjoys making his own pizza. Diane likes knitting, line dancing, Zumba, and finding new adventures.
Katie Melmer and Marty Wojciechowski closed on their new home on Shale Road in Unit 17 from Minnetonka, Minn. They have also lived in Waukesha, Wis. Golf and all the community amenities as well as no snow attracted them to the Ranch (sorry, we do get a couple snowstorms in the winter, but gone in a day!). They have many interests, including wine making, reading, swimming, papercrafts, cooking, cribbage, hiking, and volunteering (do we have opportunities for you!).
Christine and Gene Lee come from Aurora, Colo. They closed on their new home on Sabino Drive in Unit 8A. They have also lived in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Illinois, and South Carolina. The beautiful community, the mountains, our very active community, and the friendly residents sold them on moving to the Ranch. Some of their interests are fitness, dance, golf, as well as science and the stars—they love to learn new things, which they will find in their new community. They have two dogs.
David and Eileen Wilcox moved from Bellevue, Wash., into their new home in Unit 7. They have also lived in Seattle and New Jersey. Both grew up in New Jersey and both went to Rutgers, but didn’t meet until they both lived in Seattle. The numerous days of sunshine and the saguaro cactus sold them on living at the Ranch. They are enjoying the view of the Santa Catalina Mountains from their back patio. Hiking, golf, pickleball, working on cars, as well as remodeling their home are some of their interests.
Carol Ann Gregoire moved to her new home on Osprey Drive, the Villas, in Unit 21A in the middle of June, moving from northern Virginia. She grew up in Tucson so wanted to return to the area and to be closer to a new grandchild in Tempe. She likes the community and is still learning about all the many amenities.
Marianne and Bob Smythe moved to their new home on Limestone Road in Unit 18C on June 1 from Northwest Arkansas. They previously lived in Minnesota, Nevada, Texas, Illinois, the United Kingdom, South Africa, and the Netherlands. The attractions to the Ranch are golf and the weather. They like ceramics and cardmaking as well as playing golf, Mah Jongg, and bocce ball.
Kathy and Tony Fama closed on their new home on Sabino Drive in Unit 8 in mid-April. They are previous residents of Chandler, Ariz., and moved to the Ranch as the average temperatures are 10 to 12 degrees cooler and there are no dust storms. They enjoy golf.
Dave Elliott and his wife Vicki (unable to attend the Newcomers Welcome gathering) closed on their new home on Marble in Unit 17 in mid-April. They moved from Rancho Palos Verdes, Calif., but have also lived in Seattle and Denver. They have a dog.

Welcome to our new homeowners moving into our beautiful community in the last few months. We have a wonderful welcome program for all new residents to SaddleBrooke Ranch.
Each month, the Newcomers Welcome volunteers hold a gathering for new homeowners and renters. You are invited to attend to learn more about our community. We take photographs of homeowners to be included in the SaddleBrooke Ranch Roundup newspaper. It is optional to have your photograph taken, but it is a good way to be introduced to the community.
We encourage all new residents to visit the SBR Front Desk to meet Jamie Shipley, located at the opposite end of the Ranch House Grill, to receive their orientation information for SaddleBrooke Ranch. We also encourage renters to visit Jamie to receive a renter’s card to use at the fitness center and indoor pool. Jamie can register you and provide you with access to other HOA information.
The group of Newcomers Welcome volunteers consists of SBR residents who enjoy meeting people and welcoming them to our community. They are active and enthusiastically involved with many of the clubs and organizations. Contact our group if you would like to become a Newcomer Welcome volunteer.
If you have further questions, contact Jamie Shipley at [email protected] or volunteer Linda Shannon-Hills at [email protected].
Photographs of all newcomer residents attending our gathering were taken by Lola Hess. Volunteers assisting at this gathering were Pete Watson, co-presenter; Roxanne Watson, newcomers’ histories; and registration assistants Ellyn Biggs, Jeanne Sherman, Vicki Warning, and Glenna Matthews. Thank you for all your assistance.
