What Linus and I missed at the manger

Pastor John and Carol Miller,

Terry Barringer

We all know him, Linus van Pelt, thumb in mouth and never without his blue blankey. Using Luke’s scripture, Linus very carefully answers Charlie Brown’s question, “What is the meaning of Christmas?” But wait! Was there more? Did Linus miss something? Did we miss something? Those answers and much more await you at the annual Advent Celebration presented by the Women’s Ministry of the Community Church at SaddleBrooke.

For 14 years this program has been a traditional commencement of Christmas for the ladies of CCSB and their friends and neighbors. Once again, the MountainView Ballroom will be adorned with Christmas trees and the colors of the Advent. You are invited to join the festivities on Friday, November 30, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. The doors of the MountainView Ballroom will open at 11:00 a.m.

We never tire of the music of the Christmas season. It lifts our spirits and reminds us of that most precious gift – the Christ Child. Once again, we are pleased to have the talented and gracious young Aliyah Douglas perform for you. Those who have heard Aliyah are excited to have her back. Those who have yet to hear her will be awed by her amazing voice.

This year some special gentlemen will join us. A select group from the Canada del Oro Barbershop Chorus of SaddleBrooke will interpret the carols of Christmas in barbershop style. This group has been harmonizing together since l998 and is a favorite throughout Oro Valley and SaddleBrooke.

Our own Pastor John and Carol Miller have been singing together since before they were married. Their duos are always a treat. This year they will be performing a favorite of many – “Oh, Holy Night.”

A delightful lunch will be served including a winter salad of mixed greens, grilled chicken, cranberries, apples, walnuts and blue cheese with a maple vinaigrette dressing. Rolls and butter will accompany the salad. For dessert a New York cheesecake with a berry coulis drizzle.

Should you have dietary considerations, you may call Liz at 520-548-1646 after you have purchased your ticket. Let her know your name, table number and your dietary need. She will make the necessary adjustments to your lunch menu.

Tickets will be sold through the SaddleBrooke TWO administrative office from Tuesday, October 9, 2018, to Monday, November 19, 2018. The cost of the ticket is $26.

Should you have any questions, please call Mary Baglien at 520-825-1262.

The women of the Community Church at SaddleBrooke look forward to sharing this joyous afternoon with you. CCSB is an all-denominational church meeting every Sunday at the DesertView Theatre in SaddleBrooke. Our services begin at 8:30 a.m. Please join us. All are welcome.
