Why Is My Loved One with Mental Illness Not Getting Better?

The Santa Catalina Mental Health Ministry is hosting an expert panel discussion called “Understanding the Levels of Psychiatric Care Is Key to Treatment Success.” The discussion will be held on Jan. 21 from 1 to 3 p.m. or Jan. 29 from 6 to 8 p.m. The same program will be repeated twice, so feel free to attend the one that fits your schedule best. The program will be in the Parish Center of Santa Catalina Catholic Church at 14380 N. Oracle Rd.

The people with the most information about the patient, the family, do not always know or understand the different levels of care available to help their loved one. Therefore, their experience is one of helplessness and hopelessness. We will explore the different levels of psychiatric care available that may help families navigate these difficult situations. We hope those attending this panel discussion will gain an understanding of the different levels of mental health care.

The following presenters will be part of the panel:

* Inpatient Level of Care: Stephanie Maanum, Sonora Behavioral Hospital

* Residential Level of Care: Jeff Corbett, Sierra Tucson

* Partial Hospitalization Program/Intensive Outpatient Program Levels of Care: Sarah Leiner, Sonora Behavioral Health

* Outpatient Care: Matthew Merrick, Therapy

Everyone is welcome to attend.
