SBR Art Club, Linda Shannon-Hills
Many of the participating artists were amazed by the feedback they received during the SaddleBrooke Ranch (SBR) Art Club Summer Social and Member Art Showcase held on June 11.
Many of us in the SBR Art Club are novice artists, simply looking for ways to express ourselves and connect with others. In today’s world, sharing your art isn’t just about showcasing talent, it’s a meaningful way to connect, inspire, and enrich lives, including your own.
The SBR Art Club board hosted the first Summer Social and Member Art Showcase, offering members a chance to share their artwork. A total of 22 artists participated, presenting a wide range of styles and media. The event created a welcoming space for artists to display their work and for fellow members to explore new ideas and techniques—some of which can be learned through Art Club classes or self-study.
To sweeten the event, the board provided ice cream from Licks Ice Cream in Catalina and a variety of beverages, making this social event a treat in more ways than one! The showcase was a big success, sparking inspiration and connection among attendees. Based on feedback, many artists are eager to participate again, and the board is considering hosting another showcase in late fall or early winter.
If you’ve ever wanted to explore your creative side, this might be the perfect time. Engaging in the arts isn’t just fun—it’s good for you! Research shows that creative activities can boost mood, reduce stress, enhance brain function, and build social bonds—all while bringing a sense of joy and accomplishment.
So why not give it a try? Whether you’re a beginner or just curious, you might discover you’re a budding artist too.
