The SaddleBrooke Ranch Women’s Golf Association (SBRWGA) hosted its fifth annual Sadie Hawkins Golf Tournament on Tuesday, September 11, 2018, with 60 golfers participating. This event is inspired by an American folk event and pseudo-holiday originated by Al Capp’s classic hillbilly comic strip Li’l Abner (1934-1978). The premise of this event is that females invite males for a date or dance. In our event, the lady golfers invited a male resident of the Ranch to be their partner, someone other than their spouse or significant other, with a USGA handicap.
The format this year was a two-person best ball. It was a warm day out on the course, but the players persevered. Following the event, golfers gathered for a luncheon, presentation of awards and door prizes.
