Autism Society of Southern Arizona
The Autism Society of Southern Arizona will host the 14th Annual Autism Virtual Walk & Interactive Resource Fair on Saturday, September 26. This year’s event will be a virtual online experience featuring our opening ceremonies and online resource fair with exhibitors. Participants are encouraged to walk on that date and share their walk using the hashtag #wewalk4autism.
Registration is open now and exclusive access will be given to those who sign up for the event at as-az.org.
This event is designed to provide a wealth of information to individuals and families affected by autism, and to help educate and raise awareness of this prevalent disorder.
The entire community is invited to continue to support the Autism Society of Southern Arizona as they strive to improve the lives of all affected by autism. The Autism Society encourages all to participate by registering, forming a walk team, participating in the interactive resource fair, posting the hashtag #wewalk4autism, or by making a tax-deductible donation. All funds raised stay in southern Arizona to support the community.
“We are creating a unique online interactive resource fair for our families to engage and hear from our community providers, schools, state services and others, so they still have the opportunity to make the connections they would have at our in-person event,” says Brie Seward, Executive Director of the Autism Society of Southern Arizona.
Autism is a complex developmental disability that typically appears during the first three years of life, and affects a person’s ability to communicate and interact with others. According to information published by the Center for Disease Control & Prevention (CDC) (May 2020), autism now affects one in 63 children in Arizona. With no known cure, early detection and intervention are essential to help children with autism and their families get the help they need. The Autism Society is the leading voice and resource for the entire autism community in education, advocacy, services, and support.
You can register today for this innovative and interactive experience. For more information regarding registering, volunteering for this event, or to make a donation, please visit our website at www.as-az.org or call the Autism Society of Southern Arizona at 520-770-1541.
