The fourth annual SaddleBrooke Ranch Couples Golf Championship tournament, sponsored by PThomsen Consulting, LLC, was held on Sunday, April 11 at SaddleBrooke Ranch Golf Club. Twenty-six couples competed for gross and net honors, as well as for additional prizes for low net scores in four flights.
Shirley Purcell and Bruce Haney won the 2021 SaddleBrooke Ranch couples gross score championship, posting a combined score of 161, four strokes better than their nearest competitors. In the net competition, Patty and Joe Cimo’s net 143 garnered them the net crown.
Other noteworthy net rounds included Monika and Phil Bartko at even par (144), Fran and Ed Harrington at 1-over (145), and Nancy and Richard Galant and Shirley Purcell and Bruce Haney at 146. Atissa Campbell and Marvin Soskil, Linda and Frank Sherfy, and Pam and Bob Horwitt shot 4-over (148), while Beth Chamberlin and Kristi Miller and CJ and Brian Kerley came in at net 149.
Several golfers recorded sub-80 gross rounds, including Bruce Haney (74), Jon Wittman and Ed Harrington (76), and Tom First and Doug Redfield (77). Notable net scores at par or better came from Monika Bartko, Diane Taylor, and Tom First (net 68), Patty Cimo and Bob Horwitt (69), CJ Kerley (71), and Fran Harrington, Rich Galant, Bruce Haney, Frank Sherfy, and Jim Heywood (72).

There were four closest to the pin competitions during the event. These tee shot accuracy contests were sponsored by PThomsen Consulting, LLC; JKolhoff Controls, LLC; and Patrick Shaffer Dentistry.
Tee shots came to rest in the blue circle on two holes and resulted in pro shop credit prizes for Bill Oprish on hole number 12 and Marlyce Mycka and Diane Taylor on hole number 14.
SaddleBrooke Ranch Couples Golf is a social golf group that plays on the second Sunday of each month, except when the golf course is closed for overseeding.
