The fifth annual SBR Couples Golf Championship tournament, sponsored by PThomsen Consulting, LLC, was held on April 10 at SaddleBrooke Ranch Golf Club. Twenty-two couples competed for gross and net championship honors, along with additional prizes for low net scores in four flights.
Jean and Ed Cheszek are the 2022 SBR Couples Gross Champions. They posted a combined gross score of 155, the second-lowest gross score in the history of this competition and 14 strokes better than the next competitors. They are the first repeat winners of the Couples Gross Championship. Beth and Tim Chamberlin won the 2022 SBR Couples Net Championship, posting a combined net score of 140. That is the third-lowest winning net score over the five years of the SBR Couples Net Championship competition.
Several golfers recorded sub-80 gross rounds, including Jean Cheszek (73), Greg Byrne (76), Bruce Haney and Rich Flink at 78, and Doug West (79). Notable net scores of par or better came from Beth Chamberlin (66), Greg Byrne, Carol Mihal, and Jennifer Valverde at 68, Mary Fung (69), Judy Callahan (70), Jean Cheszek and Kate Thomsen at 71, and Jim Hammonds and Jim Kolhoff at 72.
