Welcome New Neighbors

Ed and Sherry Harris, from Nashville, fell in love with Arizona while Ed was stationed with the Marine Corps in Yuma. They are enjoying getting to know their neighbors in Unit 18A. They love that this is an active community with a wide variety of activities, from pickleball to euchre. She is into fitness, music, and dance. She is also a former singer.

Keith and Debbie Vincent consider themselves “Sedona refugees.” They look forward to the activities at SBR. Keith is a science fiction author, so he plans to become involved with the writing clubs. Debbie is interested in beading, knitting, and paper crafting. Home is now in Unit 18A.

Dan and Kathy Anderson, recently from California, are now settled into Unit 17. Their interests include hiking, biking, and working out in the fitness center. They were drawn to SBR by the pictures they saw, but said it was even better in person with the multiple activities and it being a gated community. Their travel often revolves around golf.

Pamela Kalblfeisch didn’t want to move unless she could have a mountain view, a safe community, and a ranch house. She is thrilled her home in Unit 8A met these expectations. She is a former rodeo cowgirl from North Dakota who is enjoying the friendly neighbors and wide-open spaces here.

Mary Kay and Didrik (“D”) Voss consider themselves “in and outers.” They are not true snowbirds, but they are not here full-time either. He is retired military, a retired civil engineer, and a model railroader. She retired from finance and is an actress who has done TV commercials and voiceovers. Home is now in Unit 16B.

Phil Hauck considers himself an “active single” who has already started a pinochle group at SBR. As an ex-marathon runner, he plans to spend time in the fitness center and eventually play golf in the cooler weather. He enjoys reading and has an interest in helping in our library. Recently from Reno, Nev., he is now at home in Unit 21A.

Rob and Judy Askelson are happy to be in our active community to meet new friends and make a home in Unit 17. The mountains of Colorado became too touristy for their enjoyment. They maintain their enthusiasm by “trying just about anything once.”

Join in welcoming the 18 new homeowners who closed on their properties in July. Their names and unit numbers are listed at the end of this article.

If you are new to SaddleBrooke Ranch (SBR) or new to your home or villa, please stop by the Front Desk to introduce yourself to Jamie Shipley and pick up your orientation material. If you are moving from one home to another in SBR, or are a renter, it is recommended that you also stop by the Front Desk. There is more to moving in than getting a set of keys and a gate pass.

Shipley, the HOA employee at the Front Desk can help ensure that the credit authorization is in place so charges for food gets credited to your HOA statement properly; that you have a four-digit code as a backup for entrance to the community; that you can access the HOA website; and much more. She is also the contact for getting a Guest Pass for your guests so they can use the fitness center facilities. The Front Desk is located in the Ranch House near the main ballroom entrance.

Moving into a new community can be daunting with everything that needs to be done, but we are fortunate to have a team of welcome volunteers who can offer a brief respite from the hassle of moving. These volunteers have information designed specifically for SBR residents. This information is presented from a resident’s point of view and can help acquaint the new resident with the community. The information is in the form of a digital handbook and is entitled the Settler’s Guide.

In addition, each newcomer is also invited to attend an informal gathering of residents, which is held monthly. The gathering is an opportunity to share information and to socialize with new homeowners. Photos are also taken for the SaddleBrooke Ranch Roundup newspaper. While the photo is optional, it is a good way to be introduced to the community.
