SASO will offer an interesting, diverse series of concerts in the 2015-2016 season starting in October. There will be five programs performed at SaddleBrooke and in Oro Valley. Also the orchestra returns to Green Valley for two programs. Resident conductor Linus Lerner will be on the podium for four of the programs with a guest conductor for the fifth.
The orchestra will be joined by seven soloists, a choir with soloists, a guest conductor and the winner of the Dorothy Vanek Youth Concerto Competition. Selections will include four symphonies, two overtures, five concertos, two choral works and more.
Performances are presented at the DesertView Performing Arts Auditorium in SaddleBrooke on Saturday nights, in Oro Valley at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church on Sunday afternoons and in Green Valley at Valley Presbyterian Church on Friday nights. The orchestra will also present a special free concert at Tucson’s Fox Theater on September 15. This concert will feature soloists from the Oaxaca, Mexico, Opera Festival and Mariachi Sol Azteca. This program is sponsored by the Mexican Consulate in Tucson and Instituto Cultural Mexicano de Tucson.
