It’s Christmas Eve and Santa’s gone missing!
Join the SaddleBrooke Singers as they journey around the globe to help the Christmas elves find Santa Claus, featuring songs that celebrate 17 distinctive countries. Directed by Tanya Elias in collaboration with Tucson’s jazz great, Sly Slipetsky, on the piano, the SaddleBrooke Singers Community Choir is comprised of community members who have moved to SaddleBrooke from all over the world. The SaddleBrooke Singers have been presenting great entertainment for more than 20 years. This year, we’ve added a second concert to our Christmas schedule. Get ready to follow Santa’s sleigh on an international expedition ending with a beautiful rendition of “Do You Hear What I Hear?” Listen as we sing the traditional Christmas carols we all know and love and one or two holiday songs you likely haven’t heard before. Will you be familiar with the songs sung in Japanese, Italian, and Spanish languages?

Silent Night
Come hear the choir sing “Silent Night.” Originally titled “Stille Nacht,” the song was first performed in 1818 in Oberndorf at the St. Nicholas parish church located on the Salzach River in present-day Austria. There in 1816, a young priest, Father Joseph Mohr, wrote the poem, “Stille Nacht,” in the wake of the Napoleonic Wars according to Jocob Utti, a Seattle-based writer. Father Mohr asked Franz Xaver Gruber, a schoolmaster and organist, to write the melody for the lyrics with guitar accompaniment. It was performed for an evening mass on Christmas Eve.
