Summer of Country Honky-Tonkin’

Janelle Authur

Ranch Western dancers are polishing their boots and dusting off their hats as they look forward to a summer of Country Western dancing at the Ranch.

The upcoming summer lineup includes three “don’t miss this one” Country Western bands. On Friday, June 7, Anthony Taylor Jr. and the Good Ol’ Boys will return to the Sol Ballroom stage in their third Ranch appearance. Most recently, the band played at Country Thunder Arizona, the Tucson Rodeo Barn Dance, Whiskey Roads, Outlaw Saloon, and Maverick, among others. Wherever they play, the band makes it a honky-tonkin’ good time. Both of the previous Ranch dances featuring this popular band, their steel guitar, and their Classic Country playlist, were sold out, so if you are reading this, buy your tickets today!

Clear Country will return to the Ranch with steel guitarist and singer Mickey G. on Friday, July 12, and Wild Ride, always a Ranch favorite, will rock the ballroom on Friday, August 9.

The Sol Ballroom doors open at 5:30 p.m. for all dances, with open seating, and bands play from 6 to 8:30 p.m. Food and beverages may be purchased at the Sol Ballroom bar; water and snacks are provided. Each dance includes a door prize with eligibility changing every month. Registration is $15 per person for club members and $20 for nonmembers.

The SBR Social Dance Club sponsors monthly Western dances and periodically offers Western dance lessons in the two-step, Western waltz, swing, 3-step, and partner pattern. For more information on club membership, dances, eligibility for the door prize, and/or to register for the dances and lessons, go to the club’s website at sbrsbdc.club.
