What Is POP Tennis?

Deb McGiboney

In POP Tennis, the court is a little smaller, the ball a little slower, the racquet a little shorterwhich makes this sport the perfect combination for FUN!

POP Tennis is a great starter sport for beginners of all ages, an easy way for social tennis players to switch up their routine, or an alternative for competitors to find new ways to win. It is most frequently played in a doubles format.

The ball: 50% and 75% the compression of a normal tennis ball for lower bounces and longer rallies.

The paddle: POP Tennis paddles swap the strings for a hole filled strike zone made of fiberglass or carbon fiber.

Outline of the Rules

Serving: The server is allowed one serve per point unless it is a let. The serve must be an underarm serve. The server serves from the baseline, alternating between the deuce court and the ad court (right and left). The serve must land in the diagonally opposite service box.

Scoring: Just like traditional tennis, the scoring is the same: 15, 30, 40, Ad-Game (deuce).
