What a difference a dress makes in the lives of little girls! If you like to sew, you can help make a difference. A Dress a Girl Around the World Sew-a-Thon will be held Nov. 2 from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Oro Valley Church of the Nazarene, 500 W. Calle Concordia.
Dress a Girl Around the World is a national organization, with members around the world, sewing dresses for little girls living in poverty. Many of these little girls are wearing rags, many are orphans, and many are living in very unsafe environments. We believe that by having a dress with the Dress a Girl label on the front, these little girls are marked as loved and protected!
At last year’s Sew-a-Thon, our volunteers made 1,500 dresses! These dresses were presented to little girls on mission trips to Costa Rica, Kyrgyzstan, Mexico, Kenya, Ethiopia, Ecuador, Tanzania, and other locations through Operation Christmas Child.
At the Sew-a-Thon, dresses will be made in assembly line format. All fabric and dress supplies will be provided. You just bring your sewing machine, basic sewing supplies, and your talent! There are tasks for non-sewers too!
All dresses made during the Sew-a-Thon will be taken on a Mission Trip in 2025.
Please come and join us and bless little girls around the world! Register by Oct. 23 online at myovcn.churchcenter.com/registrations/events/2456310.
