Saddle Up and Write

Ranch Writers saddled up and writing

Scott Hopkins

Maybe you’ve thought about writing a story, novel, or memoir, but you don’t consider yourself a writer. Well, like golf, yoga, music, painting, or anything else in life, it takes practice and a simple decision to just do it. If that’s you, a good way to start is by joining the Ranch Writers.

The Ranch Writers is a group of SaddleBrooke Ranchers who have a desire to write and improve our writing skills. We are celebrating our second anniversary as a group. Our members range in style and talent, and all types of writing are encouraged, including short stories, poetry, and even novel excerpts. Subjects vary, from autobiographical memoirs to whimsical fiction. Like any craft, we believe that your writing skills only get better by practicing and sharing your craft. Talent is a developed process, so anyone who likes to write is welcome to join usregardless of your writing ability.

We meet on the second Wednesday of every month at 1 p.m. in the LaVista Room. Our mission is to encourage writers and support one another. We are not a critique group. Each month, we provide a friendly environment for writers to share a short writing (of less than 1,000 words) and then have the group give helpful suggestions and encouragement. New and interested writers are always welcome.

If there is a story you’ve always wanted to write or you’re just interested in finding out more, contact Chuck Coxe at cfcoxe@gmail.com or call 404-452-4573.

So, saddle up and join us at our next meeting!
