Congratulations Susan Ness and her guest BJ Murray, Champions! This team finished the two-day rounds at net 129 (15 under par) at our Cactus Flower Tournament (Member-Guest) for the SBR Women’s Golf Association. The tournament was played on May 4-6, 2026, proudly sponsored by Robson Resort Communities and Blease Financial. We had a great turnout for the net best ball eclectic event. Our club members invited friends who are not members of SaddleBrooke Ranch Women’s Golf Association (SBRWGA) to the Ranch to enjoy three days of fun in the sun. First was the Monday evening get-together to welcome all the players and enjoy a few hours of friendship. Well, as luck would have it, a surprise spring rain descended on our community overnight Monday into Tuesday morning. After the bountiful and much needed rain, cart-path only was imposed for Tuesday play. Despite this, all the players went out and enjoyed the sunshine. Wednesday was another great day at the Ranch. The players were able to complete both rounds on a timely basis.
Big thanks to our Tournament Committee (Jen Valverde, Kim Rice, and Susan Pharr) and all the volunteers who made it a success. And thanks to the SBR Men’s Golf Association for help with golf bags and monitoring the arroyos for any errant shots.
On another note, our own Jennifer Valverde scored a hole-in-one on #5, April 19, 2026 (not a Tuesday League Day). She used a 5-hybrid with the pin 110 yards away. It was a windy day, which may have helped her ball find the hole.
We don’t take time off for the summer. We had a Sadie Hawkins Tournament on June 23, and the Beach Bum Babes with the women of SaddleBrooke and Mountain Preserve is on Aug.18.
