The SaddleBrooke Knit Wits have been busy this summer. Marlene Jolly is about to deliver a carload of baby items to Family First. These blankets, hats and sweaters, knitted and crocheted by our members over the last few months, will help needy families in our area. Dianne Resseguie, head of the Service Committee, said Family First provides services to those in Oracle and Winkelman. Family First is one of several local charities that the Knit Wits assist.
Recently we held a “knit in” event, which focused on blankets, lap robes and prayer shawls. Members had access to patterns and yarn purchased with club dues.
Knit Wits also is doing a sweater class led by Bette Stephens who helps members with understanding patterns and measurements to make the perfect, well-fitted sweater. She always recommends doing a swatch first and provided the tip that you can turn the swatch into an always useful dish towel or face cloth.
Show and Tell happens the first Wednesday of each month. We see beautiful items that our ladies have created. They are sometimes things you don’t often think about like doll clothes for a lucky granddaughter or a shawl in your team’s colors.
The Knit Wits are warm and friendly ladies who meet every Wednesday in the SaddleBrooke One Arts and Crafts Center, Room 4, from 9:00-11:30 a.m. We invite interested residents from SBR to come visit us to see what we are working on next.
