In anticipation of the return of our winter residents, the LGBTQ Ministry of Santa Catalina Roman Catholic Church announces its first public forum of this season. The November 4 forum is entitled: A Brief Look at the History of Sexual Identities with Nell Brownell, Ph. D, American history. Dr. Brownell has recently retired after twenty-five years in the college classroom. She comes to Arizona excited to continue facilitating conversations on topics ranging from the history of sexuality to the histories of immigration, women and religion in America.
As with previous forums, we will engage in an open dialogue with those in attendance and Dr. Brownell, further exploring this topic – especially as it impacts the church communities today.
Although these forums are designed to inform, welcome and celebrate the Santa Catalina LGBTQ community of sisters, brothers, friends and families, they are also presented for the benefit of all persons who struggle with an understanding and acceptance of this community. Our embrace is to ensure, recognize and value the LGBTQ contribution to the totality of an open community.
Please mark your calendars for Sunday, November 4, 2018 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. for the forum A Brief Look at the History of Sexual Identities presented by Dr. Nell Brownell. This forum takes place in the Santa Catalina Catholic Church Parish Hall at 14380 N. Oracle Rd. Information on the January and March forums will be provided at a later date.
