You must be a member of the SBR Art Club and have an Art Club account on Club Express to register for Art Club Classes.
Current Members: Log into your account that you have established on Club Express. Click on the class under Upcoming Events. This will take you to the payment page and provide information for registering and paying by credit card for the class.
New Members: Click New Member Signup on the home page and register as a new member. Log into your account to see Upcoming Events to register and pay by credit card for the class.

Watercolor—Neurographic Style

The SBR Art Club is bringing more watercolor instruction with Liz Iverson to our list of classes offered. This watercolor class will focus on very relaxed painting, with a little bit of drawing. Liz will give you guides to help you compose a beautiful work of art. All materials will be provided, including watercolor pan paints, liquid watercolors, watercolor neo-crayons, watercolor pencils, metallic and chameleon metallic paints, and fine-line pens. You will get to choose your colors and your forms of water-media. This is a chance to try new materials that you have not used before. You will create a 9” x 12” painting.

Boot Scootin’ Painted Cowboy Hat!

If you can hear Alan Jackson singing, “She’s Gone Country” and Toby Keith’s line, “I should’ve been a cowboy,” then let’s act the part and do just that during this creative Wild West cowboy hat-painting time.
Art Mixer Angela Burton always brings the energetic fun to her guided, step–by–step painting classes. She’ll have your chosen design (floral or desert) pre-traced onto a beautiful faux suede cowboy hat and will guide you through painting on it, step by step. Angela always gives helpful tips and tricks on how to use the brushes and paints for the most successful results. You’ll be delighted with your beautiful creation and ready to wear it out to your next line dancing gig!
Cowboy hat (adjustable sizing inside of hat) with chosen pre-sketched design will be yours to keep. All supplies provided including brushes, rinse cups, and aprons.

Paper Quilling—Halloween!

Get ready for Halloween magic! Join another Art Club paper quilling class, taught by member Erin Newman, and create charming scarecrows and pumpkins using rolled paper strips. It’s perfect for those with some quilling experience. You’ll design your own festive display during this hands-on workshop. All materials are provided to craft your unique scarecrow and pumpkin duo to take home. Transform simple paper into delightful autumn art that captures the spirit of autumn and Halloween!

Diane Verkuylen-Murphy Returns to Teach a Two-Day Class
Diane Verkuylen-Murphy
Class Description and Information: SaddleBrooke Ranch resident artist, Diane Verkuylen-Murphy, is returning to teach another acrylic pour class. This class will be a Multi-Layered Cup Ribbon Pour and is open to any skill level. Using acrylic paints and other mediums, students will learn how to layer multiple colors of paint into multiple cups without mixing them together. When poured, this will create a ribbon effect with fabulous and unique cells. Diane will provide tips such as mixing paints and pouring the paints into a particular pattern that will create beautiful cells. In the second session, finish with glass and other unique materials to enhance or embellish the design. There will be two sessions needed for this class. The first class will be held on Monday, Oct. 27, and the second class will be on Thursday, Oct. 30. Both classes are in the morning.
Diane will introduce two color palettes: One will include Teal, Copper, Burnt Umber, and Gold. The second will include Deco Art 24K Gold, Black, Plum Soft Light Gold, and Green.
Dates for the Two Sessions: First session is Monday, Oct. 27; Second session is Thursday, Oct. 30.

Materials the Instructor Will Provide: Instructor will provide the following materials for this design including the paints, canvas, tools, acrylic pens, gloves and classroom materials needed to complete the project. If you choose to embellish your project in the second class, you may purchase glass of various sizes from the Glasshoppers studio in the Creative Arts Building. Other types of materials could be used based on your level of creativity. Natural materials from the earth can be stunning.

Canvas, Cocktails, and Color Awaits You on November 13

New SaddleBrooke Ranch resident Kathy Magner will be teaching this class where everyone will be able to enjoy friendship and libations while painting. In fact, we were thinking of calling this class Canvas, Cocktails, Color, and Camaraderie! Everyone enjoys this chance to relax, paint, and take home a picture.
Kathy moved to SBR in January. She has a background in graphic arts and has a passion for painting. Kathy has painted in many media but loves the ease of using acrylic paints on canvas or glass. She is an experienced instructor and has taught many classes in Arizona and Idaho.
Class Description: A fun–filled evening awaits you on Thursday, Nov. 13, from 5 to 7:30 p.m. The theme for the picture is Fall. Display this pumpkin painting for Thanksgiving. Students will be painting a 12” x 12” stretched canvas picture. Come join your friends and make new ones in an evening of creativity and laughter. Just bring yourself and your favorite beverage. This class is perfect for both beginners and seasoned painters.
Date for Class: Thursday, Nov. 13
Time: 5 to 7:30 p.m. Please show up no later than 4:50 p.m. and wear your name tag.
