Oneg Celebrations: An Oneg is a mitzvah (good deed) to celebrate and sponsor a special occasion, memory, an honor, or just because. Our sponsors for October are Mike and Gerri Koen, celebrating their 64th wedding anniversary. In November Leslie Klipper Stewart will be celebrating her 70th birthday with an Oneg for all. December is sponsored anonymously. Come and see who it is! If you have a celebratory or memorial event, please consider sponsoring an Oneg. You can always share the Oneg honors with another.

The Gift continued with a new class! In case you missed it, a lot of us gathered on June 1 to learn about the variety of care in Tucson. We learned about navigating the Continuum of Care strategies for choosing a variety of services from residential care and its eligibility to in-home services. Figuring out how to do it and understanding resources is a conundrum. We dove into palliative care and hospice care, their similarities and differences. Much thanks to Deb Seng of Pima Council on Aging, who led and guided us on this journey. Bonnie Lasky also told us that The Gift is an excellent course on guiding us through the essentials and needs of our aging and wishes. Contact Bonnie Lasky at bglasky@att.net for more information.
It’s a Mitzvah! With the High Holy Days approaching we are asking Congregants and Guests to read passages, and help on the Bimah and with the Torah. Leslie Weiss (lesweiss47@yahoo.com) is coordinating readings and those wishing to aid on the Bimah. Please reach out to her if you are interested.
An aside: In May, after visiting the United States, King Charles III was given a challah at Golders Green. He was checking in on victims of an antisemitic stabbing attack. He also went to Grodz, a kosher bakery in London well known since 1888. There, children from the Jewish Day School gifted him a challah. King Charles and his challah left after the King spoke to several citizens affirming his government and its intention to “tackle antisemitism and ensure that all communities feel safe.”
