Why is Congressman Juan Ciscomani coming? To understand and learn from us, the community, and the issues we have had regarding pharmacy coverage and the push to mail order pharmacies owned by the same company. He also wants to hear about our patient care experiences in community pharmacy, the issues with the cost of medication, and/or the inability to get medications due to cost or unavailability. Have you experienced time delays or non-responsiveness? It is your story to tell.
A story: The patient takes insulin. The patient was contacted by the mail order pharmacy and recommended a substitute because of unavailability. The doctor prescribes the mail order pharmacy’s recommended prescription. The mail order pharmacy canceled the recommended prescription because it is not in their formulary. Desert Life came to the rescue and got the medication. The patient paid full price.
We want Juan Ciscomani to understand and learn the value of Desert Life Pharmacy to this community.
With the recent nationwide closure of many independent as well as Walgreens and CVS community pharmacies, we want to show the importance of a community pharmacy to a community to gain support for legislative changes that support community pharmacies.
Desert Life Pharmacy is our community pharmacy. The pharmacy donates from $5,000 to $10,000 each year to support our local clubs and activities.
Many of us have reached out to have prescriptions filled, get our refills on ‘Nimble,’ or to understand inconsistencies with our medicine. A lot of us remember lining up to get our COVID shots from the pharmacy. Now, we get our vaccinations and immunizations by going to the website for an appointment. Diabetes education, keeping costs down through the Medication Therapy Management program, and even a delivery service is provided by Desert Life.
But, most important, each of us receives individual and unique care.
Brianne Spaeth, owner and pharmacist, believes and practices with her staff to know all of their patients personally. They also understand each patient is unique with different needs.
Desert Life’s Mission statement is: “To be a community pharmacy that provides consistently great service, quality products, and trustworthy advice to enable our customers to take charge of their own health.”
We want Juan Ciscomani to recognize that.
Brianne Spaeth graduated from Arizona State University with a B.S. in Biology and then obtained her PharmD degree at the University of Arizona Pharmacy school. Brianne worked for a large chain pharmacy for several years. She has owned and operated Desert Life Pharmacy for over four years. Her favorite thing about pharmacy is building strong relationships with her patients and helping them obtain a high quality, healthy lifestyle.
Brianne’s primary focus is her exceptional customer service. She is always looking for new ways of helping the community and hopes the pharmacy will be a benchmark in SaddleBrooke for years to come. Along with Senior Village, the pharmacy received a congressional award in 2021 for its community wide efforts to vaccinate against COVID.
“Let me help you live your best life!” That is the goal at Desert Life Pharmacy. We are here to ensure you understand your medication and that you are living life to the fullest. We invite you to our monthly health and wellness classes at the pharmacy.
