Creating Mosaic Art at the Pottery Studio

Sue Fetters

Mudslinger Toni Selk offered a class introducing the mosaic technique, designed specifically for those who have never tried it before. The class focused on a straightforward approach where you learn to arrange and glue pieces directly into a surface to create beautiful patterns or scenes. You can use the mosaic process on anything with a surface using just about anything you can break or cut.

The second half of the class covered the magic of finishing your piece. Toni talked the students through the grouting process, which fills the gaps and brings the design to life. By the time the class wrapped up, the students walked away with a unique piece of handcrafted pottery and the confidence to start using the mosaic technique on their own.

We appreciate all our wonderful members who offer their time and expertise to educate us on the many varied techniques of creating beautiful pottery pieces.

The Mudslingers Pottery Studio is located in the Arts and Technology Center. Hours are 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 5 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday and Thursday.
