The Democratic Club of SaddleBrooke Ranch hosted a visit by Common Defense—the largest grassroots membership organization of progressive veterans standing up for our communities against the rising ride of racism, hate, and violence. They vow to organize together against those who seek to divide us so systems can not be rigged for economic gain.

The lead organizer, Richardo Reyes, had a family emergency and could not attend. Melissa Cordero, a retired Air Force veteran, joined us. Her background included working for Sonoran Institute for Water Management. She is a native of Guam who came to Tucson on relocation. She is the lead organizer for clean energy alternatives. Melissa spoke about the local Tucson chapter and national initiatives underway by Common Defense.

We also heard from Sue Ritz, retired Master Sergeant of the Army National Guard who served in four states. She is also a professional engineer in mining and mineral processing.

The club meets on the third Tuesday of the month. For details or more information, please contact us at sbrdems@gmail.com.
