The SaddleBrooke Ranch (SBR) Art Club is pleased to announce that SBR resident and artist Diane Vulcan will be teaching this series of four morning classes starting March 6 at 9 a.m. in the Art Room. This class will focus on beginner and intermediate oil techniques for painting successful landscapes. Students will use the techniques taught in class to paint rocks, trees, skies, mountains, and buildings. Each student will finish the class with a completed landscape and several small studies.

Diane has a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fine Art/Art History and Advertising Design. She is a former graphic designer/illustrator/photographer, and continues to freelance in graphic design. She is a signature member of the Pikes Peak Watercolor Society and former member of the Colorado Watercolor Society, San Diego Watercolor Society, and Wyoming Watercolor Society.

Diane paints in both watercolor and oil. She enjoys painting landscapes, nature, animals, and people. Her focus and delight is in capturing the light of landscapes and the personalities of the people and animals she paints.

You may view Diane’s work at www.dianevulcan.myportfolio.com. Diane will also be teaching a four-session Watercolor Class starting on Wednesday, March 1 at 1 p.m.

Class description: You will learn to plan a painting by beginning with a value sketch drawn from your own photo reference and receive guidance while beginning, working on and finishing your painting throughout the sessions. You will plan a painting in design and composition with particular attention to shapes and values. You will study perspective and how to capture mood and atmosphere in a painting.

This class is open to both intermediate and beginner oil painters. If you are new to oil painting, Diane encourages you to come to the first session a ½ hour early (8:30 a.m.) for a short orientation session. She will go over the materials with you, their uses, palette set up, and some techniques for brushstrokes.
