Hot dances in a cool ballroom
Wally Mara, President
This summer the Latin Rhythm Dance Club is scheduling classes in the world’s hottest Latin dances in SB1’s cool Vermilion Room. From the Caribbean we begin with the Dominican Republic for Merengue, their national dance. Next we move on to Colombia for their national dance, Cumbia. We finish the summer with Cha Cha from Cuba. Of course, all classes will be videoed and made into instructional DVDs, which you can purchase for $10 each.
Monday Basic Dance Classes meet in SB One’s cool Vermilion Room Mondays from 2:00 to 3:30 p.m. except for the second Monday of each month (Bingo Day) when we meet at 3:00 p.m. the next day, Tuesday. Our professional level classes are open to residents of SaddleBrooke and SaddleBrooke Ranch and are taught by SaddleBrooke residents Jeanny and Wally Mara.
June, Merengue – National dance of the Dominican Republic
July, Cumbia. The super popular national dance of Colombia
August, Cha Cha from Cuba, our members’ favorite dance.
Health studies suggest that dancing tones muscles, strengthens bones and improves flexibility. It can be good for seniors’ minds and balance as well.
Intermediate Dance Workshops are generally for those with previous dance experience. They meet Thursday mornings from 10:00 to 11:30 in the Vermilion Room. Enrollment is limited to 12 persons, so please call or email for reservations before the class meets!
June, Salsa Patterns, continuing from the Monday basics class
July, Merengue Patterns, continuing from the Monday basics class
August, Paso Doble. Learn the basic moves of this exciting dance.
Note: Latin dancing is vigorous and aerobic. Be sure your doctor approves!
