SaddleBrooke Ranch Women’s Golf Association (SBRWGA) held its 2019 Telegraph tournament on Aug. 27. There’s an interesting background for history buffs. This tournament began years ago prior to many organized sport associations, and when most players were unable to travel to competitions. Local competitions were held, and the results were sent via telegraph to the organizers to determine winners.
Today, our local Telegraph Golf Tournament is played at all Southern District Women’s Golf Association clubs and scores are emailed to the Southern District Women’s Golf Association so winners can be honored on their website.
This year’s winner at SBRWGA is Mary Snowden, with a net score of 63. Awesome job, Mary! Congratulations!
After the tournament, the club enjoyed a salad luncheon and ice cream party at the home of Phyllis Pettijohn. Thank you, Phyllis, for opening your home to this big group! The party was wonderful!
