What could be better for former New Yorkers and New Jerseyites than to get together, share fond memories, and eat pizza!
A group of us got to do just that at Nonna Maria’s restaurant in Oracle. We created our own pizzas with our favorite toppings, which of course we had many differing opinions about!
The owner of Nonna Maria’s, Frank, demonstrated pizza dough tossing while telling us the long history of our favorite food! We learned that the name, pizza, came from adding different ingredients to the top of dough, a piece of this and a piece of that—hence the name, pieca (or pizza)!
In addition to our creations, Frank prepared a sampling of traditional Sicilian pizzas that were delicious. We all had a great time and look forward to our upcoming adventures!
