On March 5, 16 Ranch Western dancers took their boot scootin’, two steppin’ dance steps “on the road,” to the dance floor at Whiskey Roads, a Tucson country-music themed restaurant at Foothills Mall.

For five weeks in January and February, 18 Ranchers learned the basic steps and turns of the Arizona Two-Step, while eight Ranchers refreshed their waltz skills in Intermediate Western Waltz. As a final practice, the groups decided to meet at Whiskey Roads for a fun evening of dancing to the Highway Outlaws band, a bite to eat, and new friendships.

Whiskey Roads features live bands and lessons most nights of the week, including from 5 to 8 p.m. on Sundays. This Sunday’s band, Highway Outlaws, was a great fit for the dancers’ skills and is already scheduled for the SBR Social Dance Club’s monthly Western dance on Friday, May 12.

The SBR Social Dance Club sponsors Rock and Roll and social dances in the Sol Ballroom in addition to monthly Western dances and lessons. For more information on the club, dances and dates, and/or lessons, go to the club’s website at www.sbrsbdc.club.

The next monthly Western dance is on Saturday, April 1 and features Clear Country Band.
