Judy McDermott, executive director of The First Tee of Tucson, was a special guest at the Ranchette Putters general meeting. Judy told the members how she got involved with The First Tee. Judy partnered with the City of Tucson and the PGA Tour to develop The First Tee of Tucson in 2006 and became executive director in 2019. The First Tee, a partnership among LPGA, Masters Tournament, PGA, and USGA, was started in 1997. It was created to teach kids life skills through the game of golf. Nine core values are taught: Honesty, integrity, sportsmanship, respect, confidence, responsibility, perseverance, courtesy, and judgment.

Upon completion of her talk, Judy was presented with a check for $1,000 for The First Tee of Tucson. Many members also donated new and used equipment. Judy thanked the members for their generous donations and added that this was a special program very dear to her heart.
