SaddleBrooke Health Fair history update

Phyllis Ketring, Publicity Coordinator

How did the Health Fair begin? New information has been learned about the history. As is so often the case in SaddleBrooke, the original Health Fair was a team effort, and two individuals who were instrumental in that first fair deserve credit. The idea of a Health Fair grew out of a SaddleBrooke Health and Wellness meeting. A gentleman named John Debrow managed the HOA2 fitness center at that time. Mr. Debrow had previously managed the HOA One fitness center. He raised the idea of having a Health Fair at SaddleBrooke. As luck would have it there was a health fair taking place in the area, and Mrs. Eileen Hooks volunteered to collect business cards of potential providers if Mr. Debrow would manage the invitation process. As chairperson of SaddleBrooke Health and Wellness, Dolores Robu supported the effort. She is the only charter member of the Health Fair Planning Committee still serving on the committee today.

Over the years many people have generously volunteered their time and talent to building this popular event. If you would like to share a piece of Health Fair history for publication, please e-mail [email protected] to submit an account. Identify the subject as Health Fair History.

Save the date of Saturday morning, October 14, for the 20th anniversary of the Health Fair.

If you would like to volunteer to work at the fair this year, e-mail Sally Sample at [email protected]. You will be contacted in late summer or early fall.
