The Birthday Club is a wonderful way to see our friends, welcome newcomers and enjoy a variety of programs. We are called the SaddleBrooke Ranch Birthday Club because members who have birthdays within the month of the luncheon are gifted with a complementary lunch. In the month of August we celebrated eight birthdays and welcomed three new members. Nini Falconer, the club founder, reports that we now have over 100 members.
Our August speaker was Rodyon Jones, a massage therapist from our own Esperanza Spa. He explained how our body’s five senses and extended movements plus our thoughts, form patterns that give us signals of being safe or unsafe. We have an estimated 65-85,000 thoughts each day, with 80% of them recurring daily. Patterns can be formed through exercises and meditation that help our minds and bodies find balance.
Our September program will be presented by Kendall Kroesen, the Urban Program Manager at the Tucson Audubon Society. Kroesen, who has a Ph.D. in Cultural Anthropology, works with municipalities, businesses, homeowners and landscape designers to promote urban landscapes that are friendly to birds. We hope to see you at our next Birthday Luncheon on Monday, September 14, to learn about our local birds and the ways we can encourage and enjoy them.
For details on membership and luncheon registration, contact Nini Falconer at [email protected] or Martha Sampson at [email protected]. Membership is $24 for the year; luncheons are $12. Preregistration is required.
Save the date. Our fall fashion show, coordinated by Pat Hartgrove, will be held on November 9 at MountainView in SaddleBrooke. We look forward to seeing the latest fashions on models from our membership.
