SaddleBrooke Ranch Women’s Golf Association News

Char Burrill

What a busy month it has been for the women of the SaddleBrooke Ranch Women’s Golf Association (SBRWGA). SBRWGA has held two tournaments and enjoyed many days of regular league play since the last newsletter deadline! Our time on the golf course has created many opportunities for camaraderie and friendly competition.

President’s Cup

Sixty-five players competed in the two-round President’s Cup Tournament, which took place March 17 and 18. The President’s Cup celebrates our past league presidents, and this year the flights were named after past presidents. This tournament also crowns our league net champion.

Two players tied for the low net score over the field, Kathi Dyer and Barbara Lythjohan. Instead of doing a sudden death playoff, both players elected to flip a coin and Kathi Dyer ended up prevailing. Congrats to Kathi and Barbara for their great play and to Kathi, our new league net champion.

Congratulations also to the seven closest-to-the-pin winners and to the 33 flight winners.

Cat Cup Final Results

The final round of Catalina Cup competition was held March 24 at El Conquistador. While our team placed eighth in overall points for the year, Catalina Cup is a wonderful opportunity to play competitively on great courses in our area while meeting other golfers. Our captains will be stepping down after this year and we thank you, Jean Cheszek and Barb Simms, for the many years you have served. To continue our participation in this 11-team competition, we will need new captains for next year. This is a great opportunity to be a part of SBRWGA leadership.

Telegraph Tournament

Fifty-three players competed in this Southern District Women’s Golf Association (SDWGA) tournament. Congratulations to Fran Harrington who was the over-the-field winner and whose name will be posted on the SDWGA website. Congratulations also to the four closest-to-the-pin winners and to the 29 flight winners.

Posting Compliance

Our handicap Chair, Diana Walton, has initiated a new program to recognize the importance of posting on the same day you play and to reward those members who do comply with this requirement. Each month a random number generator is used to select a winner from all members who have posted 100% of their rounds on the same day they were played. During the month of March, 89 members achieved 100% compliance by posting on the same day they played. That is approximately 77% of our membership. Congratulations to Sterlyn Robertson, who was the March winner. Remember to keep posting each round the same day it is played.

Chip-In Club

This quarter there were a total of 57 chip-ins made by membersprobably a record number! Congratulations to all the lucky winners. Big winners were Susan Ness and Cathy Steel, who each had four chip-ins this quarter.

Remember, it’s all about the short game!

If you are a member of SBRWGA and want to join the Chip-in Club, contact Barb Simms.
