Landscape Painting in Oil Thursdays starting Jan. 9, 16, 23, 30 and Feb. 6 at 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.; Instructor: Harry Greene II, MD; Cost: $150 for all five sessions.
This course is for those who have some familiarity with oil painting. It will be taught in five 3-hour sessions. Instruction will include how to prepare a canvas, visualization, and planning the painting by working from a photo. Other areas covered will be composition, perspective, value relationships, and color harmony. Brushwork and alternate sources for applying and moving paint on canvas. Varnishing and framing essentially getting Gallery ready! Class will be limited to eight students to optimize learning and individual instruction. A text will be required to purchase either directly or from the instructor.
Requirements: Some prior experience or familiarity with oil painting.
Supplies: A list will be sent out one week before the start of the first class.

Drawing Florals Wednesdays Jan. 22 and 29, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Instructor: Gail Kolenda; Cost: $50 for two sessions.
Being able to understand plants and flowers may be a challenge but offers so much enjoyment and creativity. This two-session (3 hours each) class will introduce you to understanding plant growth, showing leaves, drawing flowers with buds to full blooms. The first class will be an introduction to many different types of flowers, their buds and leaves, and ways to create a finished drawing. Quick sketches will be taught. The second class will introduce planning a drawing to completing a finished piece of work to mat and frame.
Requirements: All levels.
Supplies: Sketch book 9” by 12” or 11” by 14”; Pencils 3B, 6B, H, HB or at least one soft and one hard type; eraser either gum or kneaded.

Class Size: Min four to ten max students.
DRAWING I Wednesdays starting Feb. 5, 12, 19, and 26, from 9 a.m. to noon.
Instructor: Gail Kolenda; Cost: $100 for all four sessions.
This is a series of four (3-hour) classes which will give anyone the initial guidelines to be able to draw and create a picture. You will learn the different styles of sketching and drawing with some introduction to shading. You will discover that the pencil will be your best friend and help you to portray onto paper your interpretation of a person, still life, or scene you want others to enjoy. Come to class knowing you will have fun. It will be informative yet easy flowing with discussion, handouts, and exercises.
Requirements: All levels.

DRAWING II Wednesdays starting March 11, 18, 25 and April 1, from 9 a.m. to noon.

This is a continuation of beginner drawing. These classes will guide you into full sketching projects through to a complete drawing. Applying the skills you have developed in beginner drawing you will delve into landscapes, more on perspective, and even people. These classes will train you in detail on thumbnail sketching to full compositions. Drawing II goes into the specifics of the how’s, whys, and why not rules of drawing. The students will be completing full compositions in each class. Discover the fun and joy of taking a pencil for a ride.
Requirements: Drawing I or a beginning drawing class or at least some experience in drawing.
Supplies: Sketchbook/pad (9″ x 12″ or 11″ x 14″) Pencils (3B, 6B, H, HB – at least one hard and one soft plus the H and HB). Erasers (gum, kneaded, soft).
Location: Fine Arts & Craft Room in the Arts & Technology Building.
Class Size: Min four to ten max students.
Classes are open to all. Register by filling out a class registration form, writing a check payable to Fine Artists, and drop both off in the black box outside the Fine Arts & Craft Room in the Arts and Technology Building.
