“Diner en Blanc” is a worldwide event, spanning six continents, in which people gather in a public space and set up a chic dining area. Guests come dressed in white to enjoy quality food and wine. The event was founded in 1988 by Frenchman Francois Pasquier.
On Oct. 10, a simpler “Diner en Blanc” arrived at the Ranch! More than 140 SaddleBrooke Ranch Pickleball Club members gathered on the Ranch House patio at 5 p.m. for cocktails, dressed in some sort of white if they choose. At 6 p.m., they moved to the Sol Ballroom for dinner, raffle prizes, and dancing.
It was a successful celebration of great friends, great food, and the great club of pickleball! Decorations included candle luminaries lighting the entryway, and a giant balloon was tied to each table. There were many raffle giveaways, including pickleball paddles and bags and Chili’s gift cards.
Plated entree choices included chicken cordon bleu, grilled flat iron steak or a vegetarian meal, baked potato, charred sweet corn, rice pilaf, roasted Brussels sprouts, and carrots.
All entrees were served with a salad (balsamic and ranch dressing), rolls, ice tea, and vanilla gelato with chocolate sauce.
Members had the option to gather their friends and “reserve” tables in advance, or they could wait until they arrived and sit at an “open” table.
After dinner, they danced to the music of DJ Gus Dibiasi. Dancing was lively, and the DJ gave away an Eagles anniversary CD worth over $60.
A big “thank you” to the social committee for their planning and work on this dinner and dance.
If you missed this fun party, plan on attending next year’s event.
