SBRWGA was very proud to host our first Member-Guest Golf Tournament on May 6 and 7. Our club has grown significantly in the last few years, to the point we felt we would have enough participation to make a successful event. We outperformed our expectations! We had 96 members and guests from all over the country take part in the festivities. And festive it was! Our theme was Diamonds in the Rough to convey our message of shining gems in the desert.
On Monday afternoon we kicked off the event with a putting contest complete with a few obstacles to make it interesting.
Next, the group went to the Sales Office for a scavenger hunt through the model homes. Clues were given to locate two or three items in each home. Participants worked in teams to complete the game. What woman doesn’t love to go through model homes? There were lots of “oohs” and “aahs” at the lovely features.
Lastly, everyone convened at the Bistro in the Hacienda Club for cocktails and appetizers. Prizes for the putting contest and scavenger hunt were awarded. There was a lot of laughter and shared scavenger stories.
Tuesday was the tournament. Teams of four competed selecting two best net balls on each hole. This format enabled everyone to have fun without too much pressure to perform. Our challenging arroyo holes give character to our pristine golf course. Many thanks to our Course Superintendent, Chris Blake, for the awesome condition of our course!
Following golf, everyone proceeded to the Sol Ballroom in our beautiful Ranch House Grill. A representative from Sketchers was on hand for everyone to select the right size for their gift; a pair of silver golf shoes for our Diamonds in the Rough. A delicious lunch was followed by awards for the winners of the tournament.
A huge thank you to our main sponsor Robson Communities for their generous contribution to this event. We are so grateful for your support. Our guests were very impressed with our golf course, community and the gorgeous homes. Maybe some of our guests will decide to call SBR home.

It truly takes a village to put on an event like this. Mindy Hawkins did an amazing job as Events Chair in recruiting her team, coming up with lots of creative ideas and ensuring the whole event was fun and classy. Thank you Mindy and team! There were too many people involved in assisting to name them all, but you know who you are and we thank you! We also need to thank our Pros Mike Jahaske and Ken Steinke; these guys are always there to help us and we certainly appreciate them!
