On Feb. 15, the SaddleBrooke Ranch Women’s Golf Association (SBRWGA) hosted a tournament for the Women’s Golf Association from MountainView. The tournament included 33 MountainView players and more than 40 women from the Ranch. Jean Cheszek coordinated and ran the one-day tournament for the ladies.
The format was the two best net balls for each foursome. Taking first place in flight one was Carole Erickson and Maggie Merrick from the Ranch, and Lori Stegink and Faye Puelston from MountainView. In second place was Mary Fung and Kate Thomsen from the Ranch and Betty Cole and Ann Martin from MountainView. Karen Oprish and Kay Johnson from the Ranch and Janey Clausen and Ralene Peters from MountainView came in third.
In the second flight, Catherine Steel and Jennifer Valverde from the Ranch and Ellen Victor and Betty Cole from MountainView came in first. Coming in second place from the Ranch was Jeanne Osterlund, Bonnie Stark, and Donna Lura, with Mary Ellen White from MountainView. Diane Taylor, Phyllis Pettijohn, and Julie Ross from the Ranch and Joan Lafon came in third place.
Jeanne Osterlund shot a very impressive 67 net. The closest to the pin awards were won by Brenda Creel from MountainView and Maggie Merrick from the Ranch. Most of the ladies enjoyed lunch at the Ranch House after a fun, albeit windy, day of golf.
