Hello, golf fans! September provided a month of no golf due to overseeding and wet stormy weather. But the SaddleBrooke Ranch Women’s Golf Association (SBRWGA) ladies held their annual Sip, Swap, Shop event to kick off a busy October. Members were invited to drop off items of clothing, shoes, or bags at specified locations and times around the Ranch. Your event hostesses, Charlotte Graham, Barb Simms, Phyllis Pettijohn, and Pam Horwitt, collected, organized, and hauled these items to Phyllis Pettijohn’s house to be redistributed throughout the club.
The rush was on at the 4:30 p.m. starting time. Ladies could be seen arriving in cars, trucks, SUVs, golf carts, and mopeds. The gate was open to welcome the excited mob, some with full wine glasses in hand! Fitting rooms and mirrors were available, and shopping bags were handed out. The race to try on items was fierce. Three fitting rooms were constantly in use as women tried on the available offerings. Ten hanging racks of clothes including golf, casual, and evening attire were displayed. Tables held jewelry and shorts, and multiple shelving units held shoes and handbags. This reporter snagged a turquoise leather clutch. The “new to you” items were bagged, wine and beverages were consumed, and a good time was had by all.
At the end of the evening, 44 ladies attended, with more than 50 donating. The hostesses were busy taking down racks and folding and packing up the remaining items. Trish Kelly was instrumental in helping ladies coordinate outfits before they left for the evening. The last items were donated to First Tee of Tucson and Your Sister’s Closet out of the YWCA in Tucson. The SBRWGA thanks the Pettijohns for the gracious loan of their home.
Upcoming dates: The SBRWGA championship is underway at the time of this printing. Also, the Updegraff Tournament results will be available in the December edition of the Roundup.
The Annual Meeting is on Nov. 21 after golf. The member/member event will be on Nov. 28.
