Diane Taylor wins the Telegraph Tournament sponsored by The Battery Guy

The brisk morning of Tuesday, Oct. 19, turned into a beautiful day for the SaddleBrooke Ranch Women’s Golf Association’s (SBRWGA) annual Telegraph Tournament. This tournament began many years ago, prior to many organized sport associations, when most players were unable to travel to competitions. Local competitions were then held, and the results were sent via telegraph to the organizers to determine winners. Many Telegraph Tournaments were held in popular sports such as swimming and track that were timed competitions.
Today our local Telegraph Golf Tournament is played at all Southern District Women’s Golf Association (SDWGA) clubs, and scores are emailed to SDWGA so winners can be honored on their website.
Congratulations to Diane Taylor for winning the 2021 Telegraph Tournament with a net score of 69. Diane was also the only player of the 46 participants to have a net score below par! Diane was awarded the Telegraph Trophy to enjoy until it gets passed on to next year’s winner.

Fifth Flight: 1st Place: Lorraine Smith (74); 2nd Place: Cheri Alfrey (79); 3rd Place: Beth Chamberlin (80); 4th Place: Karen Oprish (82)
Sixth Flight: 1st Place: Kathi Dyer (74); 2nd Place: Stephanie Gaskill (75); 3rd Place: Phyllis Pettijohn (76); 4th Place: Kay Johnson (80)
