The color green, shamrocks, leprechauns, and the luck of the Irish were the prevailing themes of the March 17 St. Paddy’s Day social hosted by the SaddleBrooke Ranch Tennis Association (SBRTA). The event featured tennis and POP tennis play from 2 to 4 p.m., with several round-robin style rotations. The first round started with triples tennis, followed by round No. 2 of traditional tennis and ending with round No. 3 of triples reverse tennis play. Following the tennis and POP tennis fun, members and guests enjoyed St. Patrick’s Day cuisine of corned beef sliders, rainbow fruit skewers, green goddess dip and green veggies, and other delicious fare at the lovely home of Sue and Jim Cook. A great time was had by all!

Not to be outdone by March’s activities, April brought another unique event for the tennis and POP tennis members:

mixed doubles poker fun on April 21. The event began with members playing traditional mixed doubles or mixed POP tennis in half-hour increments. Playing cards were given to each participant, with a greater number of cards to the winning teams. After the games, participants retired to the Ranch Grill with their cards and played out their hands in a spirited and wacky poker game. Prizes were awarded to the top five poker hands, and members and their guests enjoyed food and beverages.

Stay tuned for more tennis and POP tennis fun! If you are thinking about learning tennis or POP tennis or want to continue your engagement with tennis, consider joining this very active club.
