CCP’s March dinner theater comedy The Curious Savage was written by award-winning playwright John Patrick of Three Coins in a Fountain and High Society fame. SaddleBrooke audiences enjoyed this heart-warming comedy 15 years ago, and it is delightful.

In a nutshell, the curious (eccentric) widow Mrs. Savage wants to give away her fortune. To make her come to her senses, her stepchildren commit her to the Cloisters, a sanatorium, where all the action takes place. “You’ll laugh a lot and at times you may get a bit misty,” says Tim Morsani, the show’s producer.

Both SaddleBrooke Ranch and SaddleBrooke residents make up the cast, which is directed by CCP co-founder Susan Sterling. CCP veteran Connie Ward plays crafty and kindhearted widow Ethel Savage, and the roles of her “normal” Savage family members are filled by Jim Burke, Monica Gustafson, and Al Weigel. Portraying the staff and Cloisters’ residents (including a compulsive liar, former military pilot, statistician, and seascape painter who has never seen the ocean) are Mark Albrecht, Fran Berman, Marilyn Ginther, Patti Gregory-Burke, Carol Henry, Karen Moore, and Jay Schweitzer.

An excellent cast and very good food ensure a wonderful evening. Hurry and get tickets!

Performance dates are Tuesday and Wednesday, March 22 and 23, on the SBR stage.

Tickets for these performances are $49, on sale online, and must be purchased with a member account. Log in to your member account at saddlebrookeranchhoa.org. Go to the recreation & events tab and click on the event.
