On May 17, 29 SaddleBrooke Ranch baseball fans set off for Phoenix to watch the Arizona Diamondbacks play the Amazin’ New York Mets. For most of us it was our first trip to Chase Field, and we were not disappointed. The stadium is clean and new, seats were comfortable, and we got to witness the retractable roof open on to a magnificent sunny day.

We ate the requisite ballgame food: hot dogs, peanuts, popcorn, chips, soda and lemonade, and plenty of it! There were even lots of Mets shirts in the crowd.

Since this was sponsored by the New York, New Jersey and Connecticut Club (affectionately known as The Fuhgeddaboutit Club), we went back to our home after the game for New York style egg creams, New York squares and other regional treats.

A good time was had by all; stay tuned for our next adventure.

Unfortunately, our Amazin’ Mets lost 5-4 in 11 innings.
